About books

I just finished reading a book, of course a mystery, about the library in the small town “Hitting the books” by Jenn Mckinlay.

It felt like they were writing about us: crafternoon group (although we craft in the morning), book club, some (favorite in the book) visitors were falling asleep reading newspapers. “The manager wouldn’t kick them awake until someone complained or the snoring got too loud”.

When I finished this one, I promised myself to focus on the second book, which I checked out. Also a mystery. Not about the library, just written in the year of my birth.

Maybe I will write about it later…when I finish reading it or if I finish reading.

Yesterday at work, and I work in the library, I saw a book “The secret, book & scone society” by Ellery Adams… a mystery ( no surprises)  about a bookstore. Here ‘s what I read:

“Stories don’t change much across continents and centuries. Hearts are broken. Pride is wounded. Souls wander too far from home and become lost. The wrong roads are taken. The incorrect choice is made. Stories echo with loneliness. Grief. Longing. Redemption. Forgiveness. Hope. And love”*.

All these different stories described in books can help people if they know what to read and when.

And it’s only page 4!

I literally force myself to put the book aside and do housework and hobbies.

I need to redo the sleeves of the sweater I’m knitting, sew together the rabbit’s head, ears, and body, and make a face. I want to finish the second rug for the bathroom set and put it under the mattress to straighten up. On Monday, I need to make several calls, and after all, no one canceled the work.

God help me! I gonna need it.

Invitation to “Russian Speaks”

I am looking for new amazing  guests to be on my show “Russian Speaks”.

Russian Speaks is a series of meetings with interesting people.

You can be an entrepreneur or a driven employee, you can be someone who has just changed careers, or someone who is a professional with many years of experience.

I’m interested in how you became who you are.

About writing

-I don’t know why, but yes,- said Mary and we set up a date for a zoom meeting.

I was driving home and couldn’t stop thinking of Mary‘s words.

How often I did/do something that I don’t know why?

I’m not sure that I have a straight answer.

You never know

You never know where and when you will  meet the amazing .

But I’m currently in search of … interesting people for my talk show. And as people say, “Who seeks shall find”.

I saw Maria’s post about meditation, without thinking twice, I invited her to my talk show, and then I was afraid – what if she agrees?!

In general, there were a lot of thoughts and fears (for me).

just let me sew

Many years ago, in the pre-Internet era, I made my own outfits. I did it myself and regularly. I sewed on my mother’s hand-held sew machine, without special knowledge and elementary “zigzag”-function. With the help of creativity and imagination, I came up with how to put the parts together in a wearable product. Then, many years ago, I needed clothes and a little stand out (from the crowd). Although, who do I want to deceive?.. I  wanted to stand out a lot.

I don’t know if it worked, but I tried.

Fitness

Every woman has her own ideas about beauty and appearance. Someone will not leave the house without a manicure. Someone cares more about makeup. And someone pays attention to the combination of clothes.

The vast majority of Russian women try to look 100% in all respects. It’s a kind of lifestyle. There have always been fewer men in Russia than women. And since the goal of most Russian women is to get married, they should always be ready to meet their Prince.
