Favorite quotes

I like making notes, you know that.

I also like collecting quotes. Now I found a good place where to keep them – my blog.

Here are some of them.

Charles de Gaulle (Former President of France)

Always choose the most difficult way, there you will not meet competitors.

I have liked this one for many years already. This is one of the reasons I started my blog in English. And this is what I think when I face next challenges.

Coco Chanel

If you are sad, add more lipstick and attack.

I didn’t  understand what she meant, but I like the “Add more lipstick” part. I’ve used lipstick all my adult life, and I liked it. The first year we adopted Crackle, he had a lipstick mark on his forehead quite often. Now look at me now. I only have three lipsticks! And I put it on when I’m not wearing makeup. I’m getting worse.

Denise B

If life gives you lemon, add vodka.

I have no idea who Denise B is, I recently found this quote. I have never had vodka with lemon, I prefer it with black pepper! LOL. This is a Russian home remedy.

Here is the classic Perestroika movie “Interdevochka”. The main character married a German man. Once during a party, she got drunk. German husband was angry with her, he said: we (Germans) only pretend that we drink. She replied: we (Russians) pretend that we don’t drink.

Erich Maria Remarque (German novelist)

That is the remarkable thing about drinking. It brings people together so quickly, but between night and morning it sets an interval again of years.

Calvados

Have you ever read Remarque? I have. The only thing I remember from his novels is Calvados. Everyone was drinking Calvados. He described it so vividly that I immediately wanted to try this drink (calvados). I tried it here, in the US. The bottle is still almost full, LOL. I need to meet someone who loves Remarque’s novels the same way as I do.

Paulo Coelho

If you want to see a rainbow you have to learn to see the rain.

In Russian translation, it looked a little different: if you want to see a rainbow, you have to learn to dance in the rain. Don’t you think it sounds more adventuring, intriguing?

Albert Einstein

Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

How many new things have I tried here in the US? Many. And how many more will I try in the future? I can only hope that my husband has enough patience.

Never give up on what you really want to do.

In my own words – be stubborn. This is one of the qualities of my husband’s Russian wife.

Once you stop learning, you start dying.

Since I moved to America I feel like I will live forever. I have to and want to learn so many things: lifestyle, recipes, languages, skills. I call myself a forever student.

These were some but not all my favorite quotes.

To be continued

P.S. Feel free to share with your favorite quote(s).
