I recently read the book “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod. And having read, I decided to share impressions.

There is a Russian expression ” as you meet the evening, so spend the night.” Here’s the same idea in the book. The way you start your day determines on the quality of your day, work and life in general.
The author advises to start with waking up an hour early and dedicate this time to yourself, your self development and improvement.
So, just 6 practicals on 10 minutes each.
- Meditation
I will never forget the Russian movie “Peculiarities of national hunting in winter”. In the morning the men were sitting outdoors in the cold and meditated. It turned out that I absolutely do not know how to meditate! This is probably the most difficult part of the entire list – to sit and do NOTHING for 10 minutes! I asked advice from a friend. She said that I need to sit down in a comfortable position, relax and don’t think of anything. And if you get some thoughts in the head, then try to concentrate on breathing. Honestly, I could never sit for 10 minutes.. But I will try.
2. Affirmation
The first time I read about affirmations in the book “Power of mind” by John Kehoe. And I immediately evoked another movie from Soviet Russia “ The most charming and attractive.” The main character(female) was talking affirmations as “I am the most beautiful and attractive. All men look at me”. Obviously back then (1985) some people knew about the power of spoken aloud words. But not everyone did know about that. So, you need to come up with short phrases and repeat them several times aloud, such as”every day I’m getting better and better.” Everyone comes up with their own definitions of themselves. By the way, you don’t have to believe in what you say. The main thing is to say in the positive, without a particle “ NO”. My dilemma is what language to use. I speak some sentences in Russian, others in English. I need to think about that further.
3. Visualization
I got acquainted with visualization and a “Picture of my dream” while reading the book “Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. Hal Erlond also mentioned that book. But he advised not just to admire what you see in the picture of your dream, but imagine your ideal day.
4. Exercises
Just 10 minutes of exercises which you like. This is not much, but enough to enrich the blood with oxygen and begin to circulate more actively. Only 10 minutes, but I find it very difficult to bring myself. It feels like I need either company, serious motivation, or a kick.
5. Reading
Reading is always helpful. Everyone knows that but not each one does it. 10 minutes a day will not hurt. The author recommended reading books on personal development. I read every day so it’s the easiest part.
6. Writing
Keeping a diary, writing down ideas, making a gratitude list. The author believes that whether you write a thank you list in the morning or not, the key is to focus on the good things in your life – not the negatives. With the implementation of this item, I have no problems, because I write a to-do list all the time. Thus, I manage to do more during the day.
It’s been a week since I read the book. To be honest, I’ve only tried following “The Miracle Morning” ritual a few times. Usually, I simply forget about it. I think I have a problem with the discipline and organization of time. All the more, that not necessarily fulfill all 6 practices on 10 minutes. You can choose your own pattern. In fact, it’s very interesting to see if ‘The Miracle Morning” will work if to follow Erlod’s advice constantly.
I would like to know your opinion about: 1. Is it worth reading such books or is it a waste of time? 2. Do you believe that following “The Miracle Morning” or some of the six practices can change someone’s life?
