Russian Winter in photos

Which one of you loves winter? I bet not many enjoy this cold, sometimes snowy season.

I would like to share what I like or dislike about Russian winter.

Facts that I like about Winter:
Beautiful.

Nature and the city are decorated.

It’s light outside. You know how early it gets dark in winter. Snow on the ground makes it brighter.

Winter activities: skiing, skating, sledding.
Holidays.

Russians have quite a few of them, such as New Year ( Jan 1st), Christmas (Jan 7th), Old New Year (Jan 14th). Also, employees, depending on where they work, have a long winter break.  This year it’s up to Jan 8th.

Cold.

If you ran out of free space in your fridge, it’s always cold enough on your balcony. You can store your groceries outside.

Facts that I dislike about winter:
It’s really long.

Snow begins to accumulate on the ground on the second week of November, and remains until early May.

It’s cold.

There’s an expression: the Siberian is not the one who doesn’t freeze, but the one who dresses warmly. People usually wear 2-3 levels of clothing. This is normal. Unfortunately, sometimes people cannot buy good quality clothes. That makes  me worry about my family members and friends living in Tomsk.

Also, when it gets  brutally cold vehicles and buses don’t operate properly. That makes it difficult to run your errands, go to work and etc.

Feel free to give me your opinion on winter.
